Adrian emailed us in Jan 2005 after fitting a CB unit to his MG ZR160 - here is what he said:

"I initially fitted the valve on my MG ZR160 with the intake facing up. This was very noisy, so I tried it with the intake facing down (see attached pic).

 This drastically reduced the noise level. In fact in this position it was quieter without the air filter.

The fit took just a couple of minutes, and the performance difference was immediately noticeable.

I don't have any data on fuel consumption yet, but to be honest I don't care! The increased performance and smoothness right through the rev range alone is worth every penny!" - Adrian Brewster

The new Mercedes A Class is a popular and economical 'MPV mini' from Mercedes but guess what? Sergio from SVC in Brazil has been testing the CB-26P on their A160 and their A190 and here is what he found (after telling our US distributor that he would eat his hat if it made any difference):

"I just finished to eat my hat and probably will take an umbrella for dessert... Absolutely amazing the Ecotek results in the Mercedes A Class. I'm surprised with the increase in the performance at low revolutions, the throttle behaviour is quite fantastic.

The Ecotek CB-26P result astonished our staff, including the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Manager of the Brazilian factory in the city of Juiz de Fora. Fuel economy between 9-12% and sensible increasing in torque.

From Germany to France and the 'vavavoom' Clio 1.0 from Renault - here is a fitting example from Rafael Cesare also from Brazil, he said:

"I'm very impressed with the performance difference after Ecotek installed.

It's quite amazing, all flat spots are gone and the throttle response is better than ever. I'm gonna try to to measure the KM/Litre economy, and as soon as I can I'll post it on your Forum".

Back home - car wise - we've got a Rover 75 fitting from Stephan Senger - who's from Germany - where the non-return valve has been moved (originally it is placed about 8cm far away from the inlet manifold).

This makes sense if you want to fit the device (and filter in this case) near to the manifold in a place where there is enough room. Always remember to fit the CB-26P device manifold side of the non return valve. He said: "The performance improvement is unbelievable. My car seems to have 20 horsepower extra, it is much more torquier and drives a lot smoother."

As with all the Honda VTEC engines which have the variable valve timing system, the Ecotek vastly improves engine response and economy at lower revs and makes the transition to higher revs, when the engines start to come on cam, much smoother. This makes for a much better driving experience.

The pictures show the ease in which the Ecotek can be fitted to the 2.0 VTEC engine. There is a non standard filter on this example from Thompels in Indonesia - this is not recommended as anything perched on the end of the unit like this is likely to cause the unit to fall out of tune - best to use the recommended Pipercross Filter which is specially made and designed for the device and covers the locking ring completely to ensure it stays tight.

Rommel contacted us through our US distributor with a picture of his 1998 Honda Prelude cpe with 2.2 liter Vtec and said: "I just wanted to write to you about how the Ecotek is working. Below is a list of economy (mpg) numbers that I have recorded with different setups through 3 tankfuls of gasoline. (N.B.: my City driving consists of speeds upwards to 50 mph in stop and go traffic, and my Hwy driving consists of speeds between 70 and 90 mph consistently)

Factory specs with factory intake system: 23 mpg City, 27 mpg Hwy
With AEM Short Ram intake and "Tornado" brand intake air swirl device: 23 mpg City, 31 mpg Hwy
With AEM intake, Tornado device and Ecotek device (installed on existing available vacuum port on throttle body): 22 mpg City, 30 mpg Hwy
With AEM intake and Ecotek device with "Tornado" device 'removed': 25 mpg City, 37 Hwy
Clearly, removing the Tornado device allowed the Ecotek to function as it  was meant to.

The "kick" when the VTEC comes on at 5100 rpm is more noticeable now and I notice the throttle responding more quickly and without dead spots when I throttle steer. Thank you again very much!! Rommel Miranda. Clearwater, FL. USA
